Post 4 - Generating Ideas

At random, we chose numbers that correlated to certain places, characters, objects and times. we collected our results and this is what I got ;

Character : the last of the pirates                                                 Location : the Tower of London

Situation : a door that leads to the future                                    Object : trees that talk

When :  next year

Image result for next year

Plot Synopsis :

about the last remaining pirates who have their lives in jeopardy, the only way they are able to live is to gain control and power over The Tower of London.

as they aim to attack the tower and gain possession, they come across trees that talk them into doing things they'll regret, they don't know it, but their risky actions lead them to the future where life as a pirate is very different... or non-existent!

Genre :

this short film would come under the action/adventure genre.

I think this film could come under many genres but I feel the ones I have chosen really portray what the film is: a quest for power and control.

Potential Cast :

the cast I would have would consist of a group of 7 men who are aged between 35 - 50 and 1 woman who is in the same age range.

I think this age range and number of cast members is just right for the type of film I want to produce.

I think they would represent the last of the remaining pirates very well.

Mise en Scene :
  • setting : in London
  • hair and makeup : pirate makeup/signs on face
  • costume: pirate clothing
  • props : swords, pet monkey
  • Lighting : natural lighting as its filmed outside and no where else
  • Character expression and movement :exedderated facial expressions

Post 15 - Casting

At first, I wanted to get professional actors to be in my film to keep the short very serious and aesthetically pleasing. However, I soon realised that it would be extremely difficult to get the person to Loughborough, Chelmsford and all my other locations that are at least 1 hour and 40 minutes away. I then realised it would be so much easier if I acted in the short film myself. From then on in, I started to film myself during all my training sessions and all my gym sessions because I knew, the more footage I had, the easier it would be to put the film together. I used members of the public who willingly said they'd help to be in my film and lend a hand. Finally, my peers also helped to be in my film, through school and cricket. They were mainly in the sequences that were filmed at school so it wasn't too bad to get them to come and do it, as I did it during our lessons so we were all free.
